Our Perspective: Reasoning, Reality, Results
Reasoning
We invest time and money to expand established, small companies
(not start-ups), in exchange for minority equity positions and a
role in governing the business. We partner with business
owners to help them achieve their personal objectives. We earn their
respect, and the ability to influence our investment, by adding
value, not seizing control. We bring new expertise to the enterprise,
but management continues to participate in company ownership in
alignment with the investors.
Reality
Small businesses represent the greatest potential for profit
because they can grow exponentially
by offering new
technology or by riding a new big market trend. But many small businesses
that are well positioned for growth need an infusion of both capital
and expertise to go to the next level. for example, to improve
their marketing or distribution. Yet they cant get the needed
capital from venture capitalists without giving up control
of their companies. And, adding injury to insult, mMost venture
capitalists dont have the capacity or capability to provide
the intellectual capital that is also needed.
Results
We get opportunities not available to venture funds and
private equity firms. So we do not compete for deals. We
find a prospective company that is positioned to succeed but needs
additional capital and expertise; we cooperate with the owner in
exploring what would be mutually beneficial; we do the due diligence
and the market research; and we invest time in building personal
relationships before entering into any partnership. The results
are gratifying. We are helping companies with revolutionary technologies
change the world for the better. Thats why we say: were
not just offering investors a chance to make more money; were
challenging them to be part of a new industrial revolution.
